Ready for your next adventure? Join us during our next Mexico retreat at the beautiful dude ranch: Rancho Las Cascadas in September 2025!

Taking part in a WoH retreat means you have the comfort of knowing you are part of a group of passionate horse riders and travelers ! The retreat is hosted by a WoH team-member who will also make sure you get to “e-meet” and connect other riders before arriving in Mexico. Everything will be organised, and you’ll have one point of contact for every question you might have before or even during your holiday. There’s no easier way to travel !

We’ve prepared an exciting week with a mix of thrilling rides and of course a good taste (literally !) of Mexico’s culture.

We’ll be welcoming you in this guest ranch for 4 days or 7 days (your choice, see hereunder). Time enough to explore the diverse and beautiful landscapes Mexico offers on horseback !

What to expect on this retreat?

  • Every day you will have the choice to either go for a ride in the morning and/or afternoon or go for a full-day ride.

  • We will take you to the ancient city of Tula in the morning, where you’ll be able to visit the ruins and pyramid. If you want before heading back to the ranch we can make a stop at a Western Shop (only during the 7 days retreat)

  • On Friday morning you can enjoy the famous Jilotepec market where you can find everything you’d need, from horse tack, leather goods, to spices and other foods.

  • You can enjoy the swimming pool, jacuzzi, yoga studio whenever you want.

  • As an extra, we can help you plan some spa treatments and other excursions and activities like Teotihuacan’s Pyramids, or San Miguel de Allende city, mountain biking etc. You just have to let us know !

  • Septembre is wildflower season, we will ride through fields covered with pink and yellow flowers !

  • Note that the schedule isn’t “tight”, you’ll have a lot of freedom to choose what you want to do, no need to plan everything in advance !

More about the trip…

  • The horses at Rancho Las Cascadas include Quarter horses crossed with Criollos and Thoroughbred crosses. Horses are available for riders of all levels, from beginners to experienced riders. With an incredible scenery, wide open spaces and incredible vistas, the confident riders will be able to enjoy the freedom to canter and gallop in this incredible scenery. The surroundings offer the perfect conditions and terrains for experienced riders who like fast paced riding! Less experienced riders will have the opportunity to go on trails with separate guides to make sure each guest is comfortable with the pace.

    Rider Note: For each ride during your stay, riders are thoughtfully grouped with others of similar levels, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the experience at their own pace and comfort. You have the flexibility to choose whether you want to ride every day, for 1 to 3 hours in the morning and afternoon, or if you prefer to explore the many other activities available on our itinerary. Your comfort and enjoyment are our top priorities throughout your Mexican horseback retreat.

  • The housing is built in a traditional, colorful Mexican style. Each room is individually decorated and has its own en-suite bathroom. The premises also include a veranda, heated swimming pool and jacuzzi.

    The food is exciting and fresh. The restaurant serves high quality local products, and prepares delicious traditional Mexican dishes and fusion international cuisine. Special dietary restrictions and requests can also be catered for. The open-bar serves national drinks and is always open!

    Included in your stay at the ranch: Access to infinity pool, hot tub, guided hiking, cooking classes, sauna, access to cactus gardens and wellness classes, bar and billard.

    Saturday / Arrival Day (August 30)

    You land in Mexico, ready for a week of fun. We pick you up and take you to the ranch, where you meet your fellow riders. After checking into your cozy room, we all gather for a family-style. Welcome Dinner and some games.

    Day 2 / Sunday (September 31)

    Wake up to a delicious breakfast and meet the horses. Then, it's time for a gentle ride through the rolling hills. Lunch under a big Oak tree overlooking the waterfalls is followed by relaxation, other outdoor activities, or an excursion. The day ends with a hearty dinner and stories around the table.

    Day 3 / Monday (September 1)

    Enjoy a good night's sleep and a yummy breakfast. Today, we take you to the ancient city of Tula where you'll be visiting the ruins and pyramids of this fascinating area. Before heading to the ranch, we'll make a quick stop at the local western shop where you can find everything you need as a rider or for your horse back home.

    After lunch, you can chose to go for a ride or relax in the outdoor jacuzzi before dinner.

    Wednesday / Day 4 (September 2)

    Join us for Yoga before breakfast. Then, decide between a thrilling gallop or an expertly guided half-day excursion. After lunch, swim in the pool before another exciting adventure.

    Thursday / Day 5 (September 3)

    Start the day with breakfast and get ready for an exciting full day ride to a unique rock formation. We stop for snacks and a tasty lunch along the way. Back at the ranch, treat yourself to a spa session or a Piña Colada. Evening entertainment includes pool and darts.

    Friday / Day 6 (September 4)

    A big breakfast kicks off an exciting excursion to the The Jilotepec Market. Approximately a 30-minute drive from the ranch, you will discover the biggest weekly market in the region with all types of livestock, colorful fruits and vegetables, fashionable sombreros, fine leather boots, tack for horse and rider and great mounds of chilies on offer. In the afternoon we will enjoy a nice trail ride with beautiful scenery. Dinner is a delightful mix of Mexican and international cuisine.

    Saturday / Day 7 (September 5)

    Start with breakfast overlooking the countryside. We explore on horseback, visit a local village, and enjoy easy canters between cornfields. After lunch under the 'Tree of Hearts,' choose your afternoon activity. End the trip with after-dinner dancing with tequilas and special “Noche Rosa Mexicana” night with live music at the ranch.

    Departure Day (September 6)

    Pack your bags after a last tasty breakfast. We'll take you to the airport with memories of an incredible Mexican adventure. Can't wait to see you again soon!

  • Airport: Mexico International Airport

    Airport Transfer:

    • Pick up is available at any time. The ranch is located 1.5hr drive from the airport

    • Pick up and drop off is available from the following international airports: Mexico City (MEX) or Queretaro (QRO)

    Vaccines: There are no required vaccines to travel to Mexico. However, it is recommended to have all of your vaccines up to date.

    Visa: Please check with your local embassy website for visa requirements.

    Currency: You can pay either in Mexican pesos or USD at the ranch, or by card.

    We will ride cross some small villages where only pesos are accepted (no credit card), we recommend you have some change with you (you can do this at the airport). Also convenient for the tips.

    Riding equipment available onsite: hat and saddlebags. If you are more comfortable ridding with a helmet we recommend you take yours.
