Where to Ride This Christmas and New Year’s Eve
Whether you’re planning a family adventure or a solo retreat, these equestrian getaways offer something special for everyone this holiday season. I’ve curated some of my top recommendations, each with special festive itineraries and confirmed departures. From the scenic highlands of Mexico to the breathtaking beaches of Morocco and the iconic pyramids of Egypt, here are a few must-consider options.
Mexico – Perfect for Groups of Friends or Family Getaways
How about spending Christmas at a beautiful guest ranch in Mexico? Just 1.5 hours north of Mexico City, this award-winning all-inclusive ranch resort offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere and pleasant year-round temperatures. The open-range riding here is spectacular, with flexible itineraries that cater to all levels of riders. The best part? You decide how many hours you want to ride each day, and can also explore nearby towns to soak in the rich history of the area. Must-see stops include the ancient Teotihuacan pyramids, the Aztec city of Tula, and the bustling Jilotepec market.
This destination blends cultural experiences with a touch of luxury. You’ll be staying at a 4-star ranch with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, open bar, and delicious three-course meals daily. It’s a fantastic spot for families, with plenty of activities for non-riders as well. Non-riders can relax at the ranch, go on cultural excursions, or indulge in spa treatments. Beginner riders can also enjoy slower, scenic trails if they wish.
Having visited this ranch a few times myself, I can vouch for how special this place is! The weather is perfect, with warm days and cool nights thanks to the higher altitude. If you can’t make it this Christmas, the ranch welcomes visitors all year round. You can also join one of our hosted rides there (“World on Horseback retreat”) next September.
Budget: A week-long stay is approximately 3,000 EUR per person, all-inclusive (except flights), with airport pick-up from Mexico City included. For more details, click here.
Morocco – Ideal for Solo Riders or Groups of Friends

Budget: Prices start at 615 EUR per rider, including shared transport and accommodation, with transfers directly from Marrakesh or Essaouira. Click here for more details or contact us for more information!
Egypt – Great for Solo Riders and if you want to bring a Non-Riding Partner
Why not spend Christmas in Egypt’s breathtaking Fayoum desert with the Tombs, Dunes & Kingdoms itinerary? This 8-day, 7 nights ride from Dec. 20-27 takes you from the wonders of Cairo to the stunning Fayoum desert and Luxor. Enjoy riding exquisite Arabian horses while non-riding companions can immerse themselves in Egypt’s rich cultural offerings.
At the same time, we’ll also be hosting the Adventures of Luxor and Makadi Bay ride, which includes a celebration in Luxor and along the Red Sea. For New Year’s Eve, don’t miss our best-selling holiday ride, Palms, Pyramids & Pharaohs running from Dec 28 - Jan 4, 2025. You’ll gallop in front of Cairo’s iconic pyramids, ride through Luxor, and even swim with horses in the Red Sea!
Budget: Prices for Egypt start around 3,000 USD per person, with an additional festive season surcharge of 180 EUR / 200 USD due to increased hotel rates. Transfers from the airport are included, and we’ll take care of the rest! For more information, check out our Egypt page here.
